These directions are for surgery and PAT testing appointments only — NOT for office visits
University Urology clinic offices are located in separate buildings on the UTMC campus. If you have a regular office visit, contact our office at (865) 305-9254 for the correct location. These directions specifically apply to patients arriving for surgery at the Ambulatory Surgery Unit or a Pre-Anesthesia Testing (PAT) appointment.
Pre-Anesthesia Testing (PAT)
The PAT process is provided by UTMC to assess patients before they undergo a general anesthetic. This appointment obtains your health history and ensures there are no safety concerns that could impact your surgery. Use these same directions and parking instructions for your PAT appointment.

Driving Directions to UTMC
From I-81
Take exit 1A and merge onto I-40 West. Follow I-40 West to downtown Knoxville and look for Exit 386B (HWY 129 / Alcoa Highway). Take this exit and follow Alcoa Highway to the exit for Cherokee Trail / UT Medical Center (unnumbered exit).
From I-40 West
Follow I-40 West to downtown Knoxville and look for Exit 386B (HWY 129 / Alcoa Highway). Follow Alcoa Highway to the exit for Cherokee Trail / UT Medical Center (unnumbered exit).
From I-40 East
Follow I-40 East to downtown Knoxville and look for Exit 386B (HWY 129 / Alcoa Highway). Follow Alcoa Highway to the exit for Cherokee Trail / UT Medical Center (unnumbered exit).
From I-75
Merge onto I-275 South toward downtown Knoxville. Continue on I-275 South until it merges with I-40. Take I-40 West and immediately look for Exit 386B (HWY 129 / Alcoa Highway). Follow Alcoa Highway to the exit for Cherokee Trail / UT Medical Center (unnumbered exit).
On Campus
Parking & Finding Registration
Step 1 — Enter the campus from Alcoa Highway
Pass under the stoplight at the campus entrance. Continue straight, passing Building D (Day Surgery) and Building F (Cancer Institute) on your right.
Step 2 — Roundabout to Parking Garage 1
You will reach a roundabout. Follow the right-hand traffic pattern and continue straight, which will lead you to Parking Garage 1. Look for the entrance labeled Heart Hospital above the door.
Step 3 — Enter through the Heart Hospital entrance
Enter the building through the Heart Hospital entrance. Walk straight back through the lobby, passing a seating area on the right.
Step 4 — Check in at Outpatient Registration
At the middle of the lobby, the Information Desk will be in front of you. Directly behind it is Outpatient Registration. Enter that area and sign in at the kiosk to notify registration staff of your arrival.
