About Dr. Riedinger
Born and raised in Edgewood, Kentucky. Fellowship-trained endourologist from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Riedinger received his bachelor’s degree in biology and his medical degree from the University of Louisville College of Medicine. He completed his internship in general surgery and his urology residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
After residency, Dr. Riedinger completed a two-year fellowship in Endourology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at The Ohio State University — one of the leading endourology training programs in the country. He returned to Knoxville to join University Urology, where he has developed a high-volume practice in kidney stone surgery and advanced BPH management.
Dr. Riedinger performs some of the most technically demanding stone procedures available in the region, including mini-PCNL for complex and large-burden stone disease, alongside a broad general urology practice across multiple satellite locations.

Fellowship-Trained Endourologist — Ohio State University
Dr. Riedinger’s two-year fellowship at Ohio State focused on the most advanced endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques in urology. He brings that depth of training to patients across East Tennessee who would otherwise need to travel for complex stone and BPH surgery.
Kidney Stone Surgery
High-volume ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy for ureteral and renal stones. PCNL and mini-PCNL for large, complex, staghorn, and recurrent stone disease requiring percutaneous access. Comprehensive metabolic stone evaluation for recurrent stone formers to reduce recurrence risk.
Advanced BPH & Large Prostate
Surgical management of benign prostatic hyperplasia including advanced endoscopic and robotic approaches for large glands. Dr. Riedinger manages complex BPH cases and large prostate surgery at UTMC and across satellite locations including Tazewell and Northshore.
Minimally Invasive & Robotic Surgery
Laparoscopic and robotic-assisted procedures for kidney cancer, ureteral reconstruction, and pyeloplasty for ureteropelvic junction obstruction. Fellowship training in minimally invasive techniques translates to shorter recovery and less blood loss for patients undergoing complex urologic surgery.
General Urology
Broad general urology practice including hematuria evaluation, bladder cancer surveillance, erectile dysfunction, BPH management, and transperineal prostate biopsy. Dr. Riedinger covers multiple satellite clinics, bringing subspecialty-level expertise to patients throughout the region who prefer care closer to home.
